Sotoserrano, also known as El Soto, is nestled in the Las Batuecas-Sierra de Francia Natural Park, at the confluence of three rivers: the Alagón, the Cuerpo de Hombre, and the Francia. It is the lowest-lying town in the province, at 508 meters above sea level. It enjoys a mild Mediterranean climate year-round.

The Natural Park of Las Batuecas - Sierra de Francia is a protected natural area in the west of Spain ..... in the autonomous community Castile and Leon, along the border with Extremadura.
The natural park was established on July 11, 2000 (and) includes 15 different municipalities: Monsagro, El Maíllo, Serradilla del Arroyo, La Alberca, El Cabaco, Nava de Francia, Mogarraz, Herguijuela de la Sierra, Monforte de la Sierra, Madroñal, Cepeda, Villanueva del Conde, Miranda del Castañar and Sotoserrano.
The park covers a vast area covering part of the Sierra de Francia and the Batuecas valley within it, a place that also gives its name to the park. This is where most of the wildlife and flora are present in the area, and where some of the most unusual Spanish biodiversity can be seen.

Mogarraz is a municipality and town in the autonomous community of Castile and León. It is part of the Sierra de Francia region. It belongs to the judicial district of Ciudad Rodrigo and the Sierra de Francia Association of Municipalities.
Its municipal area.....has a population of 236 inhabitants.
The town of Mogarraz was designated a Site of Cultural Interest in the category of Historic Site in 1998, featuring a typically medieval urban layout with narrow streets and an irregular layout.
It has been listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages in Spain since 2014 and has belonged to the association of the same name ever since.
