Got there on a cloudy afternoon and the first thing that hit me was how big the place looks from outside. The sky was grey but the green pitch was still popping. In front of me was the tartan track, all cracked in some places but you could still see the white lane markings clearly. A yellow tape was running round the field and it gave the whole place this "match day is coming" feeling even though it was quiet. Walking around the track, you get the full view of the stands. The main stand has this long blue roof that covers almost half of it, and the seats underneath are that classic red, white and blue mix. From a distance it looks neat, but up close you’ll see some of the paint is fading and a few seats are loose. There’s also a big floodlight tower standing tall on one side, the kind they’ll need for night games in the NPF. The pitch itself looked well kept though. The grass was cut low and green, and the goalposts were standing there waiting. You could just imagine Heartland players running out and the fans singing. I went closer to the covered stand and that’s where you really see the stadium character. The blue pillars holding up the roof, the metal railings, and the VIP section upstairs with glass windows. A few guys were doing some work around the fence, so it looks like they’re still trying to maintain things. The seats inside are arranged in blocks, so on match days when the Naze Millionaires fans fill it up, it must be loud. Right now it was empty, so you could just hear the wind and maybe one or two people talking far away. Still, you could feel the history. This is the place Heartland has played for years, and you could picture all those NPFL battles that happened here. Overall, Dan Anyiam Stadium feels like a proper Nigerian football ground. Not fancy like some new stadiums, but it has soul. The track around the pitch, the blue roof, the colored seats, and that big open field all together make it special for football lovers in Imo State. Even with the clouds hanging, I stood there for a while just taking it in. If you’re a Heartland fan, stepping into this stadium feels like stepping into home. Can’t wait to come back here on a real match day when the stands are full and the chants are going.
