Skip the lymphatic walking. Your calf muscle does the real work

Lymphatic walking is all over TikTok right now, with people swinging their arms and tapping their chest, and one science writer tried it for a month and mostly felt silly. The muscle that actually matters for your blood sugar is the soleus, a flat muscle deep in your calf. Researchers at the University of Houston had people do a seated calf raise, heel up and heel down, over and over while they sat. After a sugary drink, their blood sugar rise was 52 percent smaller and their bodies needed 60 percent less insulin to handle it. When you sit all day, your muscles stop pulling sugar out of your blood, so your pancreas has to pump out more insulin. Do that for years and you get insulin resistance, and the good news is that insulin resistance can be reversed. You can do this one under your desk tomorrow. Let's get healthy together. Science, not medical advice. #Health #Nutrition #Science #Exercise #BloodSugar
