The setup is created with an ESP32 S3 Super Mini microcontroller, a MAX98357A DAC amplifier and a button. The microcontroller is programmed with Arduino IDE. I've created a template of it if you want to set up one for yourself: https://codeberg.org/NorthWestWind/arduino-sound-randomizer How did this even become my new hobby? It all started with the button, which as you can see, is a Rhythm Heaven Groove pre-order bonus. It is originally just a keycap keychain, but upon opening up the inside I found out the button is actually functional (in the sense that the circuit does close when the key is pressed). So I had the idea to hook it up to something that actually play sounds. Throughout the past month, I have been researching how to do this kind of stuff, and this is where I've landed so far. The on thing that's still missing is a portable battery that can power the microcontroller. See more!
