How insulin resistance can lead to PCOS, and how fiber helps

Did you know insulin resistance can throw a woman's hormones way off? When your cells stop listening to insulin, your body pumps out more and more of it to keep your blood sugar in check. In women, all that extra insulin can push the ovaries to make more testosterone than they should. That imbalance can lead to polycystic ovary syndrome, or PCOS. Think irregular periods, trouble getting pregnant, acne and extra hair growth. Here's the good news. Fiber slows down how fast sugar hits your bloodstream, so your blood sugar stays steadier and your body doesn't need as much insulin. Bring insulin down and your hormones have a real shot at getting back in balance. Insulin resistance can be reversed, and that's where it starts. Let's get healthy together. Science, not medical advice. #Health #Nutrition #Science #PCOS #InsulinResistance

@betterhabitsdaily@mastodon.social Great info! Honestly, I eat a lot of vegetables but I tend to avoid the whole grains and legumes. I wear a CGM, and still see a higher spike than I'd like after eating whole grains. Legumes tend to run higher in lectins than I am ok with. Vegetables are a definite though!

A practical takeaway for your viewers: fibre from vegetables, legumes and whole grains tends to slow glucose absorption, which supports insulin sensitivity over time. Worth checking in with a healthcare professional to personalise any plan.
