Boy kibble is half right: keep the beef, swap the rice

The boy kibble trend is simple: cook a pound of ground beef, pile it on white rice and eat that same bowl for most of your meals. I like the beef part a lot, because it's real food with plenty of protein, but the rice is where the bowl works against you. A 2012 review in the BMJ pulled together large studies on white rice and found that the more of it people ate every day, the higher their risk of type 2 diabetes climbed. When that rice shows up at nearly every meal, your blood sugar and insulin get pushed up over and over, and that's the road to insulin resistance. So keep the beef and trade the rice for vegetables you actually enjoy. That one swap keeps the convenience of the trend and moves you toward reversing insulin resistance instead of building it. Study: Hu EA et al., BMJ 2012, PMID 22422870. Let's get healthy together. Science, not medical advice. #Health #Nutrition #Science #BoyKibble #Protein
