But look at the water line and you will notice the ship does not tip over the edge of anything. It simply shrinks into the vanishing point, the same way a car shrinks down a long straight road. Perspective, not curvature. Bring a good zoom lens and the ship usually comes right back into full view, hull and all. That should be impossible if half a mile of water stood between you.
