I kinda understand this as slightly more complicated impressionism. Where, instead of going back and forth between two distantly related chords, I go back and forth between two sets of two chords. The first set oscillates between an augmented and major variant of a chord, and the second set oscillates between a major and minor variant of a chord. Both chords use the same half step movement to change their variant. I am okay for being a beginner at mixing. I imagine if I spend more time on these songs I could get everything locked in, but I tend to write quite quickly and keep moving. If I slow down too much I tend to lose my drive.
